Much healing has taken place in me and I know it is because of the prayer and fasting on a steady and consistent basis for the past 12 months. When life has gotten busy or festive there have been times, even a week at a time that took a rest from fasting. My observation is when fasting a particular meal each day, you do get accustomed to it. In fact I found much of the year I was not hungry at lunch or dinner once I had fasted that meal for a week. I experimented with both lunch and dinner. I enjoy having dinner with my husband, but he has been out of town for the past 5 or 6 months. So I have fasted the evening meal most of the time. I enjoyed having lunch with friends. Breakfast is important to get our metabolism up and brains functioning

39 days remain in 2010. I have fasted 265 meals so far and have 35 to go. You might think that missing a couple of meals is a real sacrifice. That is us showing our dedication to God. The tremendous change in me this year has been genuinely wanting to eat less. I feel as though I have been healed from the desire to overeat

I also think we need to learn to wait for gratification and food at times. A little self control (a fruit of the spirit) can be so good for us. It is also good to note that waiting 30 minutes for the meal to be prepared is OK. Hunger pains pass in a few minutes

Nine things I have learned from skinny friends this year. My skinny friends all will take a few bites, and then set their fork down. They repeat this process and wait to see if they are full. My skinny friends enjoy the taste and texture and pleasure of each bite. (No shoveling) They eat what they want, not what someone else thinks they should. The skinny people I know have no idea how many calories are in any given food. Skinny people feel their fullness and satisfaction. They eat by feel. A third of the food on their plate may be enough, they won't eat a bite more. They smell the food, not just look at it. Sometimes pretty food doesn't really taste all that great. They don't hold great expectations for food preparation. It doesn't matter. Skinny people know there will be another meal later whether or not this one is a culinary wonder. They focus on what they want to do for fun. It isn't cooking or food planning. Lesson learned here is take up another hobby besides food. Most skinny people I know look at food as fuel only, not an experi

must pray for peace in my spirit, and a vision of my next steps. Where there is no vision the people perish. I need a vision and plan of some action I can take to prepare to go to Louisiana. One other thing I am going to do is get a home healthcare service to come in one day a week and help my Mom and take her to the store. That will give me a night off where we might do something together without me caring for her after working all day.
