This is not a site about dieting or “healthy choices”. It is about letting go of all of that. It is a site about living and doing, not dieting. It is about fasting.
Fasting is controversial. People are scared to death of missing a meal. But fasting is done in cultures and countries all over the world. It is about the human connection with God, where the physical meets the spiritual. And that is the place miracles occur.
If you have ever had more than 10 pounds to loose, you know how difficult it can be. It can be absolutely overwhelming to face. One pound equals 3500 calories. So with 10 pounds you have 35,000 to burn. It seems like a lot.
If you have had a personal coach, or a manufactured diet plan or program you know how every day you eat things you don’t want. And everyday you give up the things you do want to eat. For weight loss you get about 1200 – 1300 calories per day to divide among three meals and two snacks. In reality you will be eating carrot sticks, soy nuts, special artificially sweetened fake products and thin broth. I would rather divide it into two moderate meals and eat something real and good.
With diet programs you plan and you obsess. You worry about social situations and holidays. You have to force yourself to count calories, fat, carbohydrates, protein or points. I have made charts and counted every stinking gram. I have lost 30 pounds and gained it all back. I am not alone. I have spent more time planning my diet menus than I have planning and living my life. Enough of that!
Dieting doesn’t work for long. Common advice is to find a lifestyle change you can live with. I can’t live on any diet for the rest of my life.
At some point I have to respond to my God-given hungry and full body signals. Food will no longer be as import in my life. I need to “Spartan” up here and decide I can do this. Fasting is not for the indecisive or non-committed.
Fasting is not simply about going without eating. It is a spiritual experience. I need to call on the power of God. I believe miracles are available to each of us. I believe God can heal any disease or condition. I intend to stand on my faith, and to connect with God spiritually on this quest.
This website is my journey for 2010 to fast 300 meals in 365 days. I want to focus on living my life to the fullest. I want to recover my sense of hungry and full. And I want to loose 40 pounds (yes that is 140,000 extra calories to burn). My plan is to eat breakfast every day and then to fast either lunch or dinner.
"Fast 300 Meals is about freedom to loose weight without dieting. It is about drawing on the power of God to be healed from overeating. It is a project to fast 300 meals in 365 days."
